Harmoney Wealth, PLLC is a privately-owned, independent, fee-only, wealth management firm that specializes in financial planning and investment management. Bringing an extremely personalized and comprehensive approach is what Harmoney Wealth is predicated upon. Before we get to work, it’s important to understand these behaviors. We like to call it your “Why?”. Why do you have the goals you have? Why is your outlook on finances, or investments the way that it is? Why are you seeking the help of a financial professional? Once we understand your “Why?”, we will build a financial plan that keeps your values, goals, objectives, financial behaviors, and views on investment risk all in Harmoney.

THE HARMONEY DIFFERENCE

Harmony is defined as an arrangement of consistent, orderly and pleasing parts. The term is most commonly used in a musical sense with parts referencing tones. In our case at Harmoney Wealth, we view ourselves as your own personal CFO.  We learn all aspects of your life and finances and then “conduct” the various areas of your finances to make sure it is all working in synch.  We bring consistency and order to your finances - what we like to call “Harmoney.”

What separates us from all other wealth advisors?  We do more than just scratch the surface -- we dig deeper to see you for you and not just your assets.  We accomplish this by asking questions. What are your hobbies? What are your passions? What are your family dynamics? What charities or organizations are important to you? How do you want your legacy passed down to future generations? Has a major life-event impacted the way you earn, spend and save money? The answers to these questions vary between clients. Once we truly understand your values, behaviors, and goals, we match them with our expertise and strategies to create a finely tuned masterpiece. That’s the Harmoney Difference.

OUR STORY

My passion and fascination for numbers and investments began at a very young age. I fondly remember sitting at the family Gateway computer alongside my dad in the basement of our rural South Dakota farmhouse. He would use the computer to monitor the commodities markets and investments he had in his portfolio. At the time, I didn’t fully understand what I was looking at, but it’s the first moment I remember being captivated by numbers. He would educate me on the numbers and symbols and how to interpret them. The depth of our conversations expanded as I aged and were a significant part of my formative years. It wasn’t long before I very brashly challenged him that I, an eleven-year-old child, could do a better job investing than he could! So, we each picked five stocks for our fantasy portfolio and monitored their performance for four weeks. I knew absolutely nothing about the companies that I picked, but to my surprise my stocks out-performed his! Admittedly, the only reason was because one company, StarTech, skyrocketed prior to the “Tech Bubble”. However, it was at this moment that I knew I was developing a passion for investments.

When the Great Recession hit in 2008, I was pursuing my degree in business as an undergraduate student. I witnessed numerous family members, family friends, and members of the community devastated by the market downturn. I couldn’t believe how these people could have financial advisors yet be in such financial ruin. Weren’t their advisors supposed to be prepared with contingency plans for situations like these? Why did clients feel abandoned and unable to survive this downturn? Why was there a void in planning, and why wasn’t there any accountability? I was blessed and fortunate to have an academic advisor, Jason Harris, who helped answer these questions. He explained to me that it simply came down to a lack of access to financial advisors who have gone above and beyond to become experts in the industry, while also truly abiding by the fiduciary standard. I expressed my hesitancy to become a financial advisor because I did not agree with the industry’s focus on sales. He suggested I pursue a law degree to gain that expertise and learn the requirements of a fiduciary. At the University of Nebraska College of Law, I expanded my knowledge and graduated with my Juris Doctor with an emphasis in Wealth Management Law and Business and Estate Planning Law. Shortly after I furthered my expertise by becoming a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™.

Before launching Harmoney Wealth, I worked for two different investment companies that allowed me to hone my craft. But ultimately, I felt they strayed too far from the fiduciary standard and my definition of client advocacy. Sales was the priority; not the client. This led me to start my own firm centered around client advocacy. We are a proud member of the XY Planning Network, a network of “Fee-Only” financial professionals. “Fee-Only” means we, as advisors, are only paid for advice and planning. We will never receive a commission from selling products like many other firms do. A financial advisor’s true value comes in his or her dispensing of advice, and guiding you through your life’s journey with an individual, customized financial plan. I stand by Harmoney Wealth’s commitment to true client advocacy not only outlined by the CFP Board’s Code of Ethics and Standards of Conduct, but also by the morals and values instilled in me as a child raised on that rural South Dakota farm.

BEHIND THE BRAND

Every component involved in the Harmoney brand was crafted in a very purposeful and intentional manner starting with the name. We wanted to develop a unique name that reflects our personalized approach by aligning clients’ goals, values and behavior in parallel with our expertise and strategy. The word “harmony” is defined as an arrangement of consistent, orderly and pleasing parts often used in a musical sense. Adding the “e” to “harmony” makes it unique to us by transforming the word to include “money”. To learn more about each brand element click the links below.

⌘ Colors

Color Pyschology states that purple is the color of harmony that represents royalty, wisdom and ambition and promotes peace of mind, balance and stability. Gold is a rare and precious metal that represents prosperity, success. Both colors compliment and strengthen the brand’s purpose and meaning.


The circle H logo symbolizes two things – the H does not stay horizontal. It elevates in the same way we elevate your financial future. The H represents Harmoney and is enclosed inside a circle which means our relationship with you and our work to improve your financial future is continuous.


⌘ The Bowen Knot

The Bowen Knot is secondary element of our branding that holds significant meaning.

Again, we put our own spin on things. We took the knot and turned it 45 degrees so there is a loop at the bottom and top referring to your past and future, respectively. The bottom loop represents your past and acquired behaviors derived from previous life experiences. The middle loops represent the client and advisor relationship. The left loop are your goals and assets, and the right knot is our expertise and strategy. When the components from each knot come together, the top knot, which represents your future and peace of mind, is acheived.
